Canada!

Wow, what a beautiful country! We're travelling across Canada on our way to Maine - and hopefully to Prince Edward Island. Be forewarned - what looks like about 50 miles on a map is about 500 miles in Canada. We have been travelling for ten days and we're still 500 miles from Ottawa. We have seen some beautiful country.

It's almost impossible to describe some things. How do you adequately describe rowing a raft in the middle of about fifty seals? It was a beautiful day on the Oregon coast. We felt a little bit like first explorers. We were on a beach that nobody visits because it is so inaccessible. The tidal pools were fantastic. I found shells and sealife there that I have never seen on the Oregon Coast. The adventure was made all the more exciting because we had a leaky raft. We were in the surf and we had to bail water like crazy to get back to shore. We were laughing so hard, we nearly sank. I found an old fishing pole that saved me from about a hundred bad falls because the rocks were so slippery. I'll try to figure out how to post some photos. Avast, ye landlubbers! Thank you, Sally and Beau for a fantastic, wonderful, beautiful experience. Beau, I forgive you for the wedgie.

My first blog . . . . and possibly my last

Hello. I'm just trying to figure this blogging stuff out. I would like a place that I can post the occasional lucid thought. I'm thinking that it might be fun to see how this works out. So here I am. Blogging.

Inconsequential. I would like to begin by discussing this word. It's a word that I introduced to the students in an ESL class that I teach. Inconsequential. A nasty word, isn't it? Is that how I have treated some people in my life? I hope not. So much for the discussion.
